Green Power Corridor Links Jiaodong: How One UHV Line Reshapes Yantai's Energy Map

Commissioned on October 10, the Yanwei 1000 kV UHV project sends Yantai's nuclear, wind, and solar power across Shandong. For local EV drivers and charging operators, a greener grid means every charge can draw on clean electricity.

From Local Generation to Province-Wide Allocation

The Yanwei 1000 kV UHV project was completed on October 10, upgrading nuclear power from Haiyang and Laiyang plus coastal wind and solar from 'local use' to 'province-wide optimal allocation'. By the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, surplus power exported from the Yanwei area is expected to exceed 30 GW, making Yantai both a green producer and a stabilizer of Shandong's grid.

A Steadier Grid and a Linked Charging Network

After commissioning, the line forms China's first provincial UHV double-ring grid, greatly improving safety and reliability. For drivers, a steadier grid means more reliable charging at peak times. Chargers are the 'last mile' of consumption while UHV is the 'main artery' - two ends of one chain, and Yantai's local charging density carries a natural locational advantage.

Implications for Local Operators

As green supply grows, competition shifts from 'more piles' to 'greener, steadier, smarter piles'. For operators in Yantai's districts, leveraging grid greening to deploy ordered charging, PV-storage-charging, and vehicle-to-grid turns location into service advantage. This is why Dongshang New Energy insists on local O&M inspection. Source: CCTV News.
