From 5C batteries to 1.5MW supercharging reshaping heavy-truck refueling race

China's ultra-fast charging race has shifted from peak power to an ecosystem of batteries, vehicles, piles and grids. Yantai can learn from Linyi's megawatt truck station and the new national safet...

Batteries and piles speed up together

The phrase charging as fast as refueling is no longer a slogan. Li Auto plans to mass-produce its own 5C battery, while Churan launched a 6C Everest battery sustaining a sixfold charge rate with over 1000 km range. Huawei released a 1.5MW fully liquid-cooled solution delivering 20 kWh per minute at 2400A.

Heavy trucks are the clear landing spot

Linyi's Langya megawatt truck station uses Huawei hardware for steady 2400A output and roughly fifteen-minute charging. For trunk logistics, power equals revenue, so Yantai's ports, parks and county freight are natural fits, yet grids need storage and smart dispatch rather than simply stacking power.

Safety baseline and Yantai's path

The new standard GB38031-2025 adds a post-fast-charge safety test: after 300 fast cycles, external short circuit must not ignite or explode. Dongshang New Energy and Dongdian Huichong layer scenarios in Yantai, anchoring communities with slow charging while adding measured high power only after grids and O&M mature.
